The Tektronix Golf League is now in it's 14th season of playing golf at local area golf courses. The league plays every Thursday after work from mid April in to September. The league is open to all Tektronix employees, former employees, retirees and Tek employee family/friends.

Bylaws

Article I - Name

The name of this golf club shall be TekGolf.

Article II - Purpose

  • To organize friendly golfing activities for employees and associates of Tektronix, Inc. who choose to be members of the club.

 

 

  • To be an Associate Member Club of the Oregon Golf Association and to extend to the membership all the benefits and privileges thereof, assuming participation by the minimum required number of members.

 

 

  • To maintain a uniform system of handicapping, as set forth in the United States Golf Association (USGA) Handicap System, and to issue USGA Handicap Indexes to participating members.

 

 

  • To provide an authoritative body to govern and conduct club activities.

 

Article III - Membership

  • Membership shall be open to all Tektronix employees, former employees, retirees, and family and friends of active members.

 

 

  • Memberships in the club are individual and non-transferable.

 

 

  • Memberships in the club are for the fiscal year only, with all memberships expiring on the last day of February.

 

 

  • TekGolf members may choose to become OGA members and receive USGA Handicap Indexes from the club.  Those who choose to become OGA members must record and report scores in conformance with rules established by the Handicap Committee and the OGA.

 

 

  • A member shall be subject to suspension or expulsion:

 

  • In the event that the member of the club shall commit any act which reflects discredit or disrepute upon the club or shall refuse or neglect to comply with the rules and regulations of the club.

 

 

  • And by at least a two-thirds majority vote of the entire Board of Directors.

 

 

  • And after receiving written notice and an opportunity to be heard.

 

  • All membership fees and dues shall be established by the Board of Directors from time to time in such amounts as they deem adequate to operate and maintain the club.  All funds collected shall accrue to the benefit of the membership.

 

 

  • Active Member: A member that has participated in two or more TekGolf events within the past 12 months.

 

Article IV - Board of Directors

  • The Board of Directors shall consist of at least three members in good standing.  The Board of Directors shall exercise all powers of management of the club not specifically excepted by these Bylaws.

 

 

  • At least four weeks prior to the Annual Meeting, the Board of Directors shall appoint a nominating committee consisting of two or more members of the club.  At least three weeks prior to the Annual Meeting, this committee shall submit to the Board the list of nominees to serve on the Board during the next fiscal year.

 

 

  • Members at large may submit nominees to the nominating committee at least three weeks prior to the Annual Meeting.

 

 

  • At least two weeks prior to the Annual Meeting, the list of all candidates and the time and place of the Annual Meeting will be communicated to all members.

 

 

  • Voting shall be by written ballot.  Those names receiving a majority of votes shall be declared winners.

 

 

  • The Board of Directors shall meet at such times and places as they choose.  A majority of the Board is required for a quorum.

 

 

  • In the event that a board position is vacated, the remaining directors may elect a successor by a majority vote.

 

Article V - Officers and Committees

  • Within ten days after the Annual Meeting, the newly elected Board of Directors shall meet and elect officers.

 

 

  • The offices shall consist of at least a president, secretary, and treasurer.  Their duties shall be such as their titles would indicate or such as may be assigned to them respectively from time to time.  Additional positions will be appointed based on needs of the club and size of the Board of Directors.

 

 

  • The Board of Directors shall authorize and define the powers and duties of all committees.  Chairmen and members of all committees shall be appointed by the president, and the president shall be an ex-officio member of all committees except the nominating committee.

 

 

  • Except as modified by the Board of Directors, all appointed committees shall function as recommended in the USGA Golf Committee Manual.  The following committees shall be appointed each year, with such other committees as the president may deem necessary or advisable:

 

  • Tournament Committee to arrange, schedule, and conduct all intra-club and inter-club competitions.

 

 

  • Handicap Committee to establish and administer a fair and proper system of handicaps in accordance with procedures set forth in the USGA Handicap System Manual.  To establish and publish a “Handicapping Policy” for the club.  To consider and resolve all issues related to compliance with the USGA Handicap System.

 

 

  • Membership Committee to process all requests for membership.

 

 

  • Rules Committee to establish and publish the set of rules governing all TekGolf competitions.  To consider and resolve all issues related to the rules of competition.

 

 

  • Social Committee to arrange, schedule, and conduct all special events.

 

 

  • Nominating Committee to nominate candidates for election of new board members at the next Annual Meeting.

 

Article VI - Calendar

  • The fiscal year for the club will be March 1 through the last day of February.

 

 

  • The Annual Meeting of the TekGolf golf club shall be held during the Month of February.

 

Article VII - Communications

  • All communications to the membership shall occur via email and postings to the club web site.

 

Article VIII- Amendments to the Bylaws

  • The Board of Directors shall have the power to repeal or amend any of these bylaws provided that such action must be approved by a majority of the membership in attendance at the Annual Meeting or at a special meeting called for the purpose of considering such action.

 

 

  • At any time, members may propose changes to the bylaws.   Proposals must be submitted in writing to the board to be considered at their next working meeting.

 

Article IX - Dissolution of Club 

The TekGolf golf club may be dissolved by the majority vote of members attending the Annual Meeting or a special meeting called for this purpose.

In the event that the TekGolf golf club is dissolved, any remaining funds are to be donated to a charitable organization of the Board of Directors choosing.
